Llach Café, La Haciendita
Chocolate, Malt, Cream
Since 1890, Llach Café has been producing some of the finest coffee in El Salvador with an eye toward environmental stewardship. Located high on the volcanic slopes of San Vincente; the cool weather and rich soils allow coffee cherries to slowly develop deep, layered flavors. Llach’s coffee is shade grown, with indigenous trees on the property not only protecting the delicate berries from the sun, but also providing a natural habitat for thousands of birds, animals and flora that are indigenous to El Salvador. Coffee production follows in the same philosophy by using a minimum amount of water to wash the coffee cherries, drying the berries in the sun and then composting the discarded pulp to help fertilize next year’s crop.
Expect a creamy, full-bodied cup with floral accents and perfect balance.
This coffee has a soft acidity that comes out at a lighter roasts. Hints of citrus blend together with stronger floral notes and a chocolate aftertaste.
We roast Llach a tad darker to bring out more cream and chocolate notes while still preserving the floral notes.
This is a creamy dark roast. There is very little acidity left and so you get hit with the full, rich body of this coffee.
No pre-Ground beans?
All of our coffees come whole bean. We know it’s inconvenient but once ground, coffee sheds its flavour fast. If you care enough about coffee to get freshly roasted beans, then you owe yourself a good burr grinder.
